FOCUS

When composing a shot with a zoom-reflex camera, first zoom all the way in to your subject, focus on it, and then compose the shot using the zoom. Each time you move the camera, refocus.

Why?
Because focus depends on camera-to-subject distance and is independent of the focal length, which is determined by the zoom setting.

If your camera isn't a reflex camera (i.e. cannot be focused by looking through the eyepiece), then you must measure or estimate the distance between camera and subject and set the focus accordingly.
